Overview

Overview

mtnPayment is the payment layer behind MTN's learning and wellness platforms.

It takes a client from their cart to a confirmed payment in four steps — in Arabic or English, on desktop or mobile — whether they pay in full, by bank transfer or in installments.

After the checkout, we released MTN Wallet: a separate service added to every system and linked to the payment solution, where learners top up once, pay for courses and installments from their balance, and always see what they owe.

Problem

Problem · 01

Installment terms and bank details were explained over chat, which felt unsafe and slow for clients.

Problem · 02

Sales received receipts in different channels with no single status to check, and accounting tracked installment schedules by hand — so missed payments were easy to miss.

Problem · 03

A payment touches three people, and each one saw a different problem.

Solution

Solution · 01

A four-step checkout — cart, details, payment, confirmation — with a plan picker that shows the monthly amount on every option, bank details and receipt upload on the same screen, and fees shown before the pay button.

Solution · 02

Every payment enters an approval workflow with a clear status for sales and accounting.

Solution · 03

MTN Wallet builds on it: balance and debt side by side, top-up by card (Stripe) or bank transfer, overdue installments highlighted with their pay button, and a debt alert that explains why without blocking access to courses.
